On Oct. 5th, the Seahawks announced that RB Marshawn Lynch had been acquired from the Bills. Julius Jones had been dropped and the Seahawks traded two drafts picks. I have been hesitant to post my thoughts and predictions on this as I wanted to see how the team reacted. After hearing Coach Carroll and RB Forsett's reactions there is only one conclusion. With this addition, and the explosive running game that Lynch will bring, the Seahawks will be unstoppable. Don't believe me? Let's look at the facts.
1. Lynch and Forsett were a dangerous duo when they played together at Cal.
2. Pete Carroll was an unstoppable coach at USC.
3. USC and Cal are on the west coast. So is Seattle. West Coast is the best coast.
4. Hasselbeck is one of the greatest QB's in the NFL today. The only thing holding Seattle back was a slightly lacking run game. The addition of Lynch takes this run game and turns it into an unstoppable, unpredictable force. This will open up the pass game as well.
5. The rest of the season is cake for Seattle. Let's look at the remaining games and my professional predictions:
at Chicago Bears - Please. Cutler? Seahawks by 21 pts.
Arizona Cardinals - QB controversy. Seahawks by 31 pts.
at Oakland Raiders - This will be in Oakland, and the Raiders are putting up a fight. Seahawks by 10.
N.Y. Giants - No D. No problem. Seahawks by 17.
Arizona Cardinals - Another stomping. This is at home though, so the Hawks will win by 47, including one safety.
New Orleans Saints - Big upset. Hawks by 7.
Kansas City Chiefs - Hawks by 14.
Carolina Panthers - Hawks by 34.
San Francisco 49ers - Hawks by 21.
Atlanta Falcons - Here they will start taking it easy to rest up for the post season. Whitehurst will start playing second through fourth quarters. He will prove to be a formidable QB. Hawks by 21.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Hawks by 24.
St. Louis Rams - Revenge will be theirs. Seahawks by 62.
As you can see, the Seahawks will finish strong and prove to be an unstoppable force with the addition of Lynch. All in all, I am impressed with the choice and look forward to the remainder of the season.
